Well who was honestly thinking we would win against Blackburn? The best I was hoping for was not picking up too many injuries. Once again we showed an almost complete aversion to actually shooting, trouble is we didn't really do much else to any great effect. Speaking of repetition, the defence didn't defend for the goal (OK obvious, but you know what I mean). This time Kolo didn't pick up the runner, please God he hasn't picked up our defensive malaise instead. It's been (very) well documented elsewhere that without a stable back four, our defenders get easily pulled all over the shop and end up covering for each other, which leaves the gaps which get exploited. It may be poor defending, but to be honest it's surprising we don't let in a lot more given the personnel at Arsene's disposal. Speaking of which, how come Ash and Gael keep on getting re-injured? What on earth is going on? We used to have backroom staff who could apparently work miracles. Puzzling.

Now don't misunderstand, this isn't going to be an anti-Thierry rant, but I am starting to believe that his style of play is one of the reasons we do so badly at home now everyone else plays at least two lines of four against us. With Thierry in a strikers role he is playing in a very congested area, one which I think Adebayor could make profitable use of. He still seems to be trying to feed Thierry on ocassions when going for goal makes more sense, and we all know how good at assists Thierry is. Maybe dropping back a bit would create more space.

One thing I think Thierry should do for the good of the team is to ask Arsene to relieve him of the captaincy. There is no way Arsene will do it himself, but it is clear that Thierry more often reacts to how well the team is doing than pulling the team up by example. We need someone who will get involved with refs when we get a bad decision, we need someone who will talk to the team about what needs to be done, we need someone who will not disappear for periods during the game. That's what a captain does, it's not what Thierry does. It was just a mistake, fix it and move on. Oh and Le Prof also needs to realise there is no-one in the team who can't be substituted if they are having an off game. It's what's best for the team, not just the star player.

Anyone know a good hypnotist for Jens? One of these days he's going to get sent off now opposing players know how easily riled he is, but at least he cares enough to be upset and wants to do something about it when things are going badly.
