All top managers and not a few wannabees try to psyche opponents out before a game by dropping controversial little comments into their pre match press conferences.
The idea I imagine is to create doubt in the minds of the match officials and influence them subliminally in your favour. I find it interesting therefore how Arsene's comments both before and after matches are so often categorised as 'whingeing' whilst ol' Demento is virtually applauded for being the master of mind games. Then it occured to me. Wenger starts with a 'W' and so does whinger, it's an easy link for the heard of thinking. So going by the same criteria, what could you use for someone who's name begins with an 'F'? Nope, can't think of anything, maybe you can....
Since there was a game last night, I suppose I'd better get a tad footbalistic. First off, not sure about Sanchez Watts hair, just doesn't work for me. His goal however did. I'm a little old-fashioned I guess, but I figure a forward should always follow a shot in just in case it gets spilled or the defender and goalie go absent as they did for Vela's goal. At times there were too many players in the opposition penalty are when one holding back would have given more options. Hardly a complaint though, and it's something you learn with maturity. ANd apparently forget when you make the first team. I know the youngsters can learn from the first team, but on this showing it cuts both ways.
Is it me or is Vela becoming some sort of Eduardo dos? No it's not just because they are (originally) Latin Americans I love the way he plays with a smile on his face and a shedload of confidence. As far as I am concerned, he's every right to be confident, he could be a massive star. Hope it's for us.
We've had many talented youngsters who haven't made the grade but have still gone on to have careers elsewhere, Thomas being the obvious current example. I really don't know much about him, but he was being a right nuisance before he put his arm in gear before his mind. In the scheme of things it was somewhat short of a knockout punch, and I was a little dismayed at the apparent agony it induced in Wilshere which fortunately passed very quickly when the red card came out. Yes, it was a red card offence, but come on Jack, you're better than that.
Although it seems a long time ago now, I thought it was a pretty routine win last weekend. We did waht we had to do, no more, and won pretty comfortably. Of course Arsene was wingeing afterwards, certainly he wasn't attempting to protect his players from the remorseless clogging which pretty much brought Cesc to a standstill by the end. But then protect doesn't start with a 'W' does it.
